The combination of tradition and innovation offers a significant comparative advantage of the company.

Based on the valuable lessons of our experience, we handle the olive fruit with responsibility and respect.

The concept of cooperation, the pursuit of a common goal with the producers and the necessary efficiency in order to deliver a product we can be proud of, is inherent to our modus operandi. The oil we produce is what we consume in our homes; we first offer it to our own children and then to the consumer

Cretan Olive Mill is a family business, founded in 1966 in Kalessa, a small village a few kilometers southwest of the city of Heraklion. The Almpantakis brothers insisted on using traditional fiber disks (or “boxades”) and animal-drawn presses to ground the villagers’ harvest, and their good reputation gradually attracted other producers from the general Malevizi area who trusted the brothers’ work.

In 1978 the olive mill relocated and was supplied with new technologically advanced equipment. As times changed and the demand for more competitive, quality and stable products increased, the family proceeded to the construction of a modern mill, a true gem for the area, which successfully fulfilled the strict requirements of the European Union as well as the high quality standards established by the International Olive Council (IOC).

Since 2009, Cretan Olive Mill has released several commercial brand names (“Agrelia”, “Kritiki Eleones”, etc.) that have received various awards for their quality and flavour in national and international competitions. The recognition and distinctions resulted in a consequent increase of the presence of the company both in Greece and abroad.

The descendants of the Almpantakis brothers continue the work of the company’s founders following the traditional values and procedures they inherited, while also providing a strong impetus for the company with their scientific training and passion for work. Cretan Olive Mill remains a family business to this day.
